How to watch the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot drawing: What time and channel is the drawing?

The winning lottery numbers for Friday’s massive $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot will be drawn shortly before 11 p.m.

It will be held at the WSB-TV studio in Atlanta and televised in New Jersey on New York City’s WABC-7 and Philadelphia’s Fox 29. NJ.com will publish the winning numbers immediately following the drawing and the video will be uploaded to the Mega Millions YouTube.com page shortly thereafter.

The cash option is worth $739.6 million.

If someone is lucky enough to overcome the 302,575,350 to 1 odds of buying a jackpot-winning ticket he or she will win the third-largest prize in U.S. lottery history.

The Mega Millions jackpot has climbed for more than four months. Thirty-six drawings have been held since Adrian Tongson of Racine, Wisconsin hit the $120 million jackpot on Sept. 15. He chose the cash option and won $95.4 million before taxes.

A single ticket sold in South Carolina hit the $1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot on October, 23 2018. It is the highest jackpot won by a single ticket, and fell just short of the Powerball jackpot record of $1.584 billion set in January 2016. That jackpot was split by three winners — one apiece in California Florida, Tennessee.

On Wednesday, a Maryland ticketholder won the $731.1 million Powerball jackpot. Powerball drawings are held at the Florida Lottery studios in Tallahassee.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 each and in New Jersey must be bought by 10:45 p.m. on the evening of the drawing. Players also have a 1 in 12,607,306 shot to win the second prize of at least $1 million by matching five numbers.

The game is played in 45 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
