New Jersey – A 10-year tradition of family Friday-night pizza continues long after the children have grown up and gone on with their own lives. The parents remain loyal to the tradition and to the friendship that the four couples have cultivated through the years. The group still meets and pools their money to buy weekly Powerball and Mega Millions tickets just as they’ve regularly done. Now, those relationships have been bonded even stronger by good fortune and a $40,000,000 Powerball jackpot win.
Anthony Perosi / $136 Million
New York – The New York Lottery’s Yolanda Vega presented a larger than usual ceremonial prize check to Anthony Perosi, 56, of Staten Island. Perosi, a plumber, was the sole winner of a $136 million Powerball jackpot drawn on March 14.
Marie Homes / $188 Million
North Carolina – A single mother from a small town in Coastal North Carolina has come forward to claim her $188 million Powerball prize, making her the largest jackpot winner in state history.
Until recently, Marie Holmes of Shallotte supported her four children by working jobs at Wal-Mart, Food Lion, KFC, McDonald’s and Subway. The 26-year-old’s life changed forever when her Powerball ticket matched all six numbers in the Feb. 11 drawing, winning her a third of the $564 million jackpot.
TL Management Trust / $564.1 Million
Texas – The Powerball jackpot-winning ticket sold in Texas for the historic Feb. 11 drawing has been claimed. TL Management Trust, Andrew Weber, Trustee of Austin claimed the $127,046,150.05 Cash Value Option prize from the $564.1 million jackpot at Texas Lottery headquarters in Austin today. The claimant requested minimal publicity.
Lisa Quam / $90 Million
Washington – Quam shared the story that on Thanksgiving Day, she took a break from the cooking, and ran to Haggen Northwest Fresh (1406 Lake Tapps Parkway E) with her husband to pick up a newspaper with the Black Friday ads and some pumpkin spice. While in the checkout aisle, she and her husband debated whether or not to buy their kids Lottery tickets to tuck in their Christmas stockings. Although they decided against the stocking stuffers, Quam did purchase two Powerball tickets – one for her and one for her husband.
Vinh Nguyen / $228.4 Million
California – California’s latest multi-millionaire wasted no time coming forward and claiming his massive $228.4 million jackpot! Vinh Nguyen walked into the California Lottery’s Hayward District office late Thursday afternoon with his winning Powerball ticket in hand.
Nguyen was the sole winner in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing matching the numbers 7, 14, 24, 41, 21 and the Powerball number 26.
John “Jack” Long / $60 Million
California – What do popsicles and Powerball have in common? Not much, besides the same number of letters. But for John “Jack” Long, the two will forever be intertwined. You see, Long was picking up his favorite sweet treat in Fontana, when he decided to test his luck and won $60 million.
“I hadn’t bought (lottery tickets) in a while, and I was at the store buying my popsicles and I go, ‘Oh hell, let me get some of these before I get out of here,'” Long explained. “I didn’t ask or care how much it (the jackpot) was, just bought them on a whim.”
Mary Ann Thompson / $124.9 Million
Ohio – A gas station in Conneaut sold the winning Powerball ticket on July 9, 2014, and the winner has claimed her prize. Mary Ann Thompson of Conneaut won $124.9 million after she picked a perfect combination that matched all five numbers and the Powerball number in the July 9, 2014 Powerball game.
Roy Cockrum / $259.8 Million
Tennessee – After what seemed like an eternity but what was in fact a mere 22 days, the winner of the largest jackpot in Tennessee Lottery history came forward today to claim his $259.8 million Powerball prize won from the drawing held June 11.
Amid TV cameras and cheers from an enthusiastic crowd of well-wishers at Lottery headquarters in Nashville, Knoxville Roy Cockrum, 58, stood for pictures with Lottery President and CEO Rebecca Hargrove and the traditional oversized winner’s “check” after presenting his winning ticket earlier to Lottery officials.
FlaMass Family Joint Venture / $148 Million
Floria – The Florida Lottery announces that the FlaMass Family Lottery Joint Venture claimed the $148.8 million jackpot prize for the POWERBALL® drawing held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. The partners of the joint venture, Louis Centrella, 72, of Daytona Beach; Suzanne Centrella, 54, of Naples; and Christopher Centrella, 39, of Naples; chose to receive the winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $86,932,220.04.
All winning tickets must be redeemed in the state/jurisdiction in which they are sold.
